IMPACT
We envision a world where embracing natural hair is more than an individual decision—it's a collective act of freedom and liberation, of resistance and re-existence in the face of oppressive beauty standards.

SANKOFA proposes educational empowerment by providing historical context and a critical understanding of how hair politics intersect with racial identity, challenging harmful narratives present in beauty and education spaces.
Through shared stories, we seek to inspire Black women and girls to embrace their natural hair as a living expression of identity, liberation, ancestry, and self-love.

By fostering intergenerational dialogue, the film establishes bonds of sisterhood and solidarity among Black women in the diaspora, creating networks of support and mentorship. It also honors and preserves hairstyle practices and traditions as a living and essential cultural heritage.
